Buttermilk Ponies overlooking Streamstown Bay.

The Connemara Pony is the only native pony to Ireland.Their characteristics are : good temperament, hardiness, staying power, intelligence, soundness, surefootedness, jumping ability, suitable for child or adult.In older times they were used to pull carts, for farm work and as the family transport.Nowadays they are mainly kept as pets and show animals. Each Sunday from May until October there is a show held within a 2 hour drive of Clifden, if you are interested in attending a show just let us know, we’ll give you directions and probaly see you there!On our land in Streamstown ( overlooking Streamstown Bay) and Moyard ( 3 & 6 miles from the house) we breed Connemara Ponies and Connemara Blackface Sheep. Guests are welcome to visit, we’ll give you directions and you can also meet Ben our sheepdog, and Harley our Golden Retriever if you wish. There is a ringfort located at the top of our land in Streamstown and from there you will get the most amazing views of Streamstown Bay, the deserted village and standing stones on the neighbouring land (it’s well worth the climb!) From our mountain land you can see all the way to Inishbofin Island on a clear day. In Moyard you will often see the roaming wild deer.

Millie has bred 5 filly foals, in 2011 and 2012 she took a break from breeding and was ridden and competed in dressage and ridden shows and in The Cleggan Beach Musical Ride. She qualified for the Winter League Ireland Finals and was 4th in her ridden class in Clifden. She is now scanned in foal to The Clifden Winner, Clochanard Paddy , hopefully due early May 2013.

Buttermilk Diana S: Moy Johnny’s Pride D : Claretuam Clara,  had a colt foal by Gurteen Dara on April 7. He was sold to his new home in Wicklow in october.

Buttermilk Ruby S : Earl of Newbridge D : Buttermilk Diana was born May 25 2008.

Buttermilk Hoku S : Dooneeen Supermatch D : Buttermilk Melody, born 2009 started her show career gently last year and is learning the ropes.

Buttermilk Mayday S : Dooneeen Supermatch D : Buttermilk Melody, a golden dun, was inspected and passed as Class One in May 2012. In 2012 she was shown twice, placed each time and is learning a lot.
