Walking in Connemara
Pat is a keen hill walker. He has completed ( & qualified on) the first ever Connemara based guiding course, and is a member of the newly formed Connemara Walking Guides Association, na Beannna Beola and The Maumturks Walking Groups. Over the last few years he has walked almost every hill etc. in the area. He will gladly assist you with suggestions, tips, maps etc and if you would like a guide for your walk he or some of his colleagues can be arranged to guide you.
Below are some suggested walks, these can be adapted to suit your requirements etc.
Old Railway Walk
Pat will guide you on a leisurely walk along the old Galway to Clifden Railway Line. Starting at Ballynahinch he will lead you to Clifden. Along the way you will learn about the building techniques used, farming in the area and experience stunning scenery. This walk is suitable for people of all ages and all walking levels and will take approximately 3/4 hours. Walking boots and waterproofs are required. Light refreshments are provided along the way !
Pat will take you into the Twelve Bens mountain range. You will climb three of the Bens reaching a height of 664 metres at the highest point. This walk is suitable for those of a good fitness level and walking boots, waterproof gear is a necessity. A good wholesome packed lunch will be provided and along the way you will experience the sheer beauty of The Twelve Bens and Connemara.
